The Orchid Trio
The Orchid Trio is a Portland-based string trio with a mission to share an appreciation of chamber music performance and collaboration. Its members consist of violinist Siying Ge, violist Deborah Shutser, and cellist Quinn Liu.
The Orchid Trio has been performing in various venues in Portland and presents exciting performances of both classic and contemporary repertoire in concert settings.
In addition to concert performances, the Orchid Trio performs for many events/venues including weddings, parties, art galleries, and wineries.
Deborah Shuster studied at the Peabody Conservatory as an undergraduate and received her M.Mus. degree from The University of Colorado. She was a founding member of the Vento e Cordi Quartet in New York, and has played with the New York Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, the New Jersey Symphony, the Spokane Symphony, the Windsor Symphony, Teatro Lirico e Sperimentale in Spoleto, Italy and the Michigan Opera Theater. She currently plays viola and cello in chamber ensembles in Portland and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Born in Xinjiang, China, Quinn Kun Liu began her cello studies at age of eight and won her first cello competition at ten. Quinn received her Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance at The Shanghai Conservatory of Music in China and Master’s Degree from University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) where she received a full scholarship. As an orchestra musician, Quinn has served as cellist in a variety of orchestras such as the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Portland Columbia Symphony, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Portland Cello Project, Inland Valley Symphony. Previously, she also played in Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in China. Quinn is an active chamber musician and she has been invited and performed in several music festivals in the States and Asia.
Siying Ge got her Master degree from Manhattan School of Music. As an orchestra musician,Siying served as a Principal violinist with New York International Orchestra and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2015. She also recorded a full range of music for Final Fantasy 15. Siying served as a Concertmaster, Principal violinist and Violinist with New York International Orchestra, MSM Symphony Orchestra, Senior Opera Orchestra, Tongji Symphony Orchestra,SoundtRec Boston Orchestra, Video Game Live Orchestra,Tenyc Music Orchestra. She was also Invited by several music festivals as a head violinist for Art String Quartet in Asia.
