Meet our Teachers

Siying Ge.jpg

Siying Ge

Siying Ge got her Master degree of Violin Performance from Manhattan School of Music. As an orchestra musician, Siying served as a Principal violinist with New York International Orchestra and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2015. She also recorded a full range of music for Final Fantasy 15. Siying served as a Concertmaster, Principal violinist and Violinist with New York International Orchestra, MSM Symphony Orchestra, Senior Opera Orchestra, Tongji Symphony Orchestra, SoundtRec Boston Orchestra, Video Game Live Orchestra, Tenyc Music Orchestra. She was also invited by several music festivals as a head violinist for Art String Quartet in Asia.

Since moved to Portland, Siying has been the violinist of The Orchid Trio. The Orchid Trio performs chamber music concerts in the Portland metro area. They have performed the classical music and contemporary music for All Classical Portland, The Old Church Concert Hall, PDX House Concert, Multnomah county libraries and many venues. 

Siying has over 10 years of experience in teaching violin of all ages and levels. She believes in getting to know the students and adapting lessons according to their unique learning styles and goals.

Quinn Liu

Quinn Liu is the founder and director of the Musication LLC. Quinn has been teaching for over 15 years and is graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) with a Master Degree of Cello Performance. 

As an orchestra musician, Quinn has served as cellist in a variety of orchestras such as the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Portland Columbia symphony, The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Inland Valley Symphony. Previously, she also played in Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in China.  As an passionate and active chamber musician,  Quinn is founding member of The Orchid Trio and the Cello Jam. And she has been invited and performed in several music festivals in the United States and Asia.

In addition to music performance, Quinn is very experienced in teaching cello as well as working in musical administration. Quinn was a cello instructor at the Opus school of Music, Oregon Music Academy, Musicality Network, Music Academy of San Diego, Old Town Academy, Help You Achieve Academy. Quinn works as the executive assistant at the Bravo! International Music Academy. She is also a cello instructor at PCC Rock Creek.

Quinn has called Portland home since 2017,  joining the Portland Columbia symphony on 2019 and Metropolitan Youth Symphony in 2021. Beyond performing and conducting, Quinn teaches at and manages her home studio, Musication LLC, in Bethany.

Melody Cen

Melody Cen holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Kansas and is the Music Director and co-founder of the International Chamber and Vocal Music Institute (ICVMI), a contract musician with Hemiola, and a voice judge for the 19th Zhongxin International Music Competition. In her illustrious career as a professional classical singer, she has performed leading roles such as Miss Silberklang in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor, Pamina and one of the Spirits in The Magic Flute, Sister Genovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, and Flora(cover) in Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, among others.

Dr. Cen has garnered recognition in various competitions and honors, including Second Prize at the 2023 MAP International Music Competition and Second Prize at the American International Music Competition. Additionally, she was named Best Performer during the 43rd Acupuncture Legalization Day in California and received the title of Outstanding Performer at the 4th College Students Art Exhibition in Shanghai. She also has participated in prestigious music programs such as the International Opera Program at The Juilliard School, the Lawrence Opera Theater program, etc.

As a music educator, Dr. Cen is also deeply committed to academic research. In 2022, she presented her dissertation on Music in the Cultural Revolution at the 71st Midwest Conference of Asian Affairs. Furthermore, she has been invited by Professor Shi of Xidian University to deliver guest lectures on music education and the development of young artists. In 2024, she co-authored and published a comprehensive dissertation, offering insights into the cultivation of music students. Dr. Cen has collaborated with Muselit Company to publish a music appreciation course titled Classical Music Appreciation: Romantic Music That Never Stops.
